The Definition of the theme:

No, sadly I won't be telling you how to catch a dragon, that's classified information, so I can't share that. But what I can tell you,that the flying dragons of myth and legend are not as different fron the slightly exotic pets we keep at home. And this statement comes from experience, since one of these creatures dwell in my home. A lizard, not a dragon.

Some poetry

This is a poem (by me!) called "Don't be angry" "Don't be angry" I exlaimed, as I held him out for her to see, "Angry?!" she replied, "I darn well hope it doesn't eat me!" "Oh no, no, no. You just don't get it, he is not what you think he is" Mum laughed "Let me tell you just how I recognised this" "He's got spikes at the side of his body, Undoubtedly used for killing, his hobby The eyes, they are perfect for spying On his prey, which will soon be dying Don't you see how sharp his talons could be To slice into his dinner, which could be me And his mouth, the thought makes me shudder This thing-- it's a dragon, and nothing other!" I was shocked, I had thought she would know of these creatures But it seemed she had misinterpreted it's features I decided she ought to know her mistake And I would preach her, no matter what it would take "Dear me, dear me, let me tell you a tale Yes dear mother, this story will teach you, without fail This is a story set not long ago I stumbled across him, and soon did I know The spikes on his side, are defensive, and defensive only Not used for killing a fly, pig or pony The eyes are placed at the side of his head Though he preys on bugs, he still fears the eagle, so it's said His claws, ideal for running over his harsh home terrain My guess is his owner cast him out, but that sacrifise wasn't in vain And since his mouth hold no deadly fire, no smoke If we keep him, love he may evoke So please, please, please, can we keep him? I'll do chores, earn money, we cant just leave him!" Mum sighed, then laughed "I suppose it's the better thing to do, Taking into account, that his heart already belongs to you" She gestured to him, so I looked down, And, to my surprise, he was fast asleep on my nightgown Relieved, I looked out the window, into the cold dark night As I imagined him, all alone, on the street, I knew what I'd done was right Greatful, of my new, exotic, beautiful pet I knew my lizard's adventure hadn't ended just yet.

More about the theme

Did you know, that Bearded Dragon lizards live up to their name in more ways that expected? For instance, their obvious similarities through appearence, the spiky sides, the short legs, their small beady eyes. But also, bearded dragons puff out their beards to seem stronger, bigger and therefore superior. The beard also turns black in color if the animal is stressed, or during courtship or aggression. There are eight species of bearded dragon, all of which are from central Australia. Bearded dragons are also surprisingly smart! They can learn things very quickly. For more information, CLICK HERE.
